Alfalfa is a perennial herb, has an extended list of nutritional and therapeutic uses, and research has confirmed that Alfalfa could lower blood levels of cholesterol and glucose. Many people take Alfalfa supplements orally and have been substantiated as safe except in a small-scale percentage of people where it gives off lupus-like signs. In the seeds and sprouts of Alfalfa, there is amino acid L-canavanine present, and that is what is believed to cause this reaction. Though, this is not present in the leaves of the Alfalfa. Alfalfa has been an animal crop for over a thousand years but is also used as herbal medicine.

Alfalfa is an effective diuretic as well as a good laxative. It also functions well for urinary tract infections, and kidney, bladder, and prostate illnesses. The most recent and remarkable breakthrough of Alfalfa is the help that it might give for reducing cholesterol because there are particular agents in Alfalfa that attach to cholesterol which stays it from remaining in the bloodstream. Moreover, Alfalfa may also have a very strong association with dropping blood sugar levels.
