Organic foods may finally get a seat at the kids' table. Seven out of 10 Americans articulated they like organic options. It's undoubtedly no surprise that a lot of parents say, they need to give their babies the benefits of an organic product when it involves feeding them baby formula. Nevertheless, the matter has been that until recently, there hasn't been an organic formula available that gives babies two key nutrients for mental and visual development: the lipids DHA and ARA.
The Role Of Nutrition
These lipids are organically provided from mom to baby in breast milk, but in fact, not all moms can breastfeed. If parents’ formula feed, and choose an organic infant formula, it's important that they use an organic formula enriched with DHA and ARA, justifies Dr. Barbara Levine, director of the Nutrition Information Center and associate professor of nutrition in clinical medicine at Weill College of Medicine of Cornell University.
The only generally distributed organic baby formula with DHA and ARA is out there at Wal-Mart and is named Parent's Choice Organic Infant Formula, formulated by PBM Nutritionals. In addition to having important lipids, the formula is enhanced with corresponding nutrients as other baby formulas and meets the strict infant formula regulations set by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.
The formula assists parents in trying to find organic alternatives during a second way as well: It can save them some green. PBM got round the problem of high-priced organic foods by distributing its product nationally through Wal-Mart stores. Doing so allowed the manufacturer to succeed in many parents who didn't have access to organic formulas-and to stay prices relatively low.
